You're a mage. The government found out, snapped a collar on your neck and plugged you into the basement like a spare battery. It turns out the people running the country are not entirely people, and the thing buried under the capital is hungry. Today the collar glitches for half a second. That's all you need.
HEXECUTIVE ORDER is a fast, gory, old-school shooter where your guns are spells and every floor of the State is worse than the one above it. Break out of a detention center that officially doesn't exist, then keep going down: open-plan offices, the evidence archive, dead metro lines, a bunker where staff meetings turn into rituals, and a lot further than that. 44 levels further.
What You Get
Your arsenal is a spellbook
Frost shards that work like a shotgun, chain lightning that hops from one cubicle to the next, fireballs, a necrosis ray and a comet you drop on people's heads. Most spells have an alternate fire.

From a secret prison to open-plan offices, dead metro lines, a ritual bunker and the gates at the bottom of everything. Every floor is worse than the one above it.
Break the collar
You start out collared, with a pistol and barely enough magic to light a candle. Get your grimoire back from the evidence room, where it's filed as EXHIBIT #1.
A different mage every run
Pick a boon card between levels, then spend your loot in 10 shops run by a merchant you probably shouldn't trust.
Office satire, then horror
Memos about printer etiquette, Archivists who stamp the dead back to their feet, doors that want a request in triplicate. The deeper you go, the less funny the paperwork gets.
Metal and gibs
Hand-drawn pixel art with real dynamic lighting, lots of gibs, a metal soundtrack that ramps up with the fight, and five difficulties up to Damnation.
